What is Myofascia?
Myofascia (Fascia) is the thin membranous connective tissue which surrounds and covers all of your muscles, bones and organs. Myofascia is composed of collagen and elastin fibers which are arranged in a web-like structure.
Myofascia is often described as a body suit which is continuous and pervasive and runs from the top of your head down to the bottom of your toes. It is like a pull on a sweater - damage to one area of Myofascia can affect other areas of your body, even years later.
In its healthy state, the Myofascia is a fine, elastic and semi-fluid membrane and allows the body to move without restriction. With physical trauma, inflammation, some of its elastic fluidity and becomes increasingly solid. With emotional trauma and stress - the Myofascia can become tight, restricted and a source of tension throughout the rest of the body leading to
Stiffness, Headaches, Soreness, Less stability, Tightness etc
The healthy Myofascia helps to maintain good posture, good range of motion, flexibility, proper breathing and gives us the ability to perform our daily tasks, pain-free and relaxes our mind.
